Safety
Each year in the United States there are nearly 4.3 million injuries/illnesses among private sector firms. In 2004, 5,764 fatalities occurred. In other words, one in every 1,000 injuries/illnesses resulted in a fatality. These injuries/illnesses cost U.S. businesses more than $110 billion annually*. In addition to the dollars, there is also the cost in pain and suffering to those injured and their families.
