The Absence Management program involves a four-step process that includes assessment, program development, implementation/training and evaluation.
Step 1 – On-site program assessment
- Analysis of cost drivers
- Examination of existing policies and procedures
- Review of claims experience (work and/or non-work related)
- Interviews with key employees and supervisors
- Interviews with employees who have been through the injury/illness process
- Completion of a report outlining strengths of program and areas needing improvement
Step 2 – Program Development
- Customized and formalized program development and/or enhancement
- Development of prevention strategies
- Development of injury management (pre-claim) strategies
- Development of post injury management (post-claim) strategies
Step 3 – Program Implementation & Training
- Training of management and key personnel
- Physician education and training as necessary
- Creation of train-the-trainer programs
- Development of comprehensive communication strategies
Step 4 – Program Evaluation
- Identification of trends and appropriate program adjustments
- Development and evaluation of agreed upon metrics
- Additional program follow-up and assessment as necessary
